It takes us about a year to get through one. This was Volume 4, D. It is fun to learn about a random hodgepodge of different things. This is a edition so it is somewhat outdated in many things but still has a lot of very interesting historical information.

Alison and I finished Volume 5, E. Lots of interesting information and some not so interesting. I read every single page of every single volume, fiction, art, history, music, science, civics, you name it. They were wonderful, and although US-centric, really opened a window on the world. My parents got the set when they were newlyweds and my older sister was just born and we still have the whole entire set decades later.
