He doesn't like taking things seriously and always has some odd advice to be given out to Finn, filling in his role as an older brother. The legendary John DiMaggio lends his voice acting skills to the character of Jake the Dog in his distinct style. The rough, deep sound that DiMaggio provides is unexpectedly matched with a cute and cuddly character like Jake.
However, it does work well, as Jake is something of a breakout character. John DiMaggio's vocal performance as Jake is similar to the sound he provides to Bender from Futurama. Another one of his standout roles. She is also an on-again-off-again crush of Finn the Human - although, ultimately, her heart belongs to Marceline the Vampire. The Candy Kingdom is a kingdom with people made of candy, looking to the Princess for guidance and leadership.
She is a kind and benevolent leader with excellent manners and a normally good nature. This is not to say that she is all good, as elements of her personality are occasionally darker, with multiple instances where her experiments may cross the line. She is an affectionate friend, a terrifying enemy and a fair ruler. Capturing each facet of this character is something that Hynden Walch does brilliantly. The characters many juxtaposed emotions all feel natural to the character as the connective thread that is Hynden Walch's remains consistent.
Before serving as an Adventure Time voice actor, Walch has been attached to numerous popular franchises, most notably among them is Teen Titans, where she played the beloved Starfire.
The Ice King, formerly Simon Petrikov, is a maniacal wizard who lives in the Ice Kingdom, a frozen mountainous wasteland with only Penguins to keep him company. The Ice King desperately seeks a princess to love him, to the point where he produces countless plans to kidnap princesses to bring back to the Ice Kingdom. At first, he is the show's antagonist, with Finn and Jake consistently working to overcome his plans to kidnap Princess Bubblegum.
Although, as the show progresses, it is clear to see that the man that was once Simon has been twisted and driven to insanity by the power of the Ice King's Crown. This reframes him as a tragic character, which definitely adds to the character's depth.
Tom Kenny is a well-established performer, even prior to becoming an Adventure Time voice actor. He is doubtlessly used to unconventional characters, as he voices Spongebob Squarepants, one of the most popular characters in animated television.
Beyond this, he has a portfolio of work across an assortment of animation franchises. Tom Kenny brings his diverse abilities to the forefront for this role, as he moves from outright villain to sympathetic madman across the run of the programme. His relationship with Marceline produces many of the most touching moments, so his ability to connect with the audience, whilst remaining villainous is a testament to Tom Kenny's experience and talent.
He even won an Annie Award for best voice acting in for his performance. Marceline is a vampire, someone who has lived alone for many centuries in the Land of Ooo.
She is fearless, mischievous, and can fend for herself - as she has been doing for hundreds of years. Although, it's not all fun and games with Marceline. She has a deep emotional side that she has learned to hideaway after a long life of hardships.
While she started as an antagonist in her entry into the show, she quickly transformed into one of Finn's closest friends. Marceline connects with many members of the cast emotionally.
She has a long history with Ice King, from when he was known as Simon. The two of them walked the apocalyptic world together before either of them transformed. She also shares a romance with Princess Bubblegum, one of the fandom's most beloved pairings. Olivia Olson provides the voice for Marceline the Vampire. While she has performed in some notable franchises, such as Phineas and Ferb, she has not got a tremendously long catalogue of work.
However, her work as Marceline is superb; she provides some of the most engaging emotional depth in Adventure Time. She owns the role, fully, with her ability to come across as intensely emotional or completely nonchalant and unphased alternating moment-to-moment. It's Like So Lumping Good. I have a soft spot for anything to do with the beautiful LSP so an episode entirely focused on her Lumpy Space World and its denizens is always going to please me immensely. It's funny that she gets such a major feature in the series, even before Ice King. This episode is hilarious from start to finish and I don't know how they came up with this stuff.
The thing that pushes it to a 10 is the characterisation of the Lumpy Space People as these completely shallow, vapid, angsty teen stereotypes. Every time they talk it's funny and so uniquely LSP. It's gross that her mum exists as a lump on her dad's body. She was also at the hospital, apparently concerned for Princess Bubblegum, in " Mortal Recoil.
Her strained relationship with her parents is first shown in " Trouble in Lumpy Space " when she has an argument with her parents and they ban her from using the royal car. After the fight Lumpy Space Princess tells Finn that she "lumping hate[s] them," and that her "parents are horrible idiots.
Lumpy Space Princess is shown to have run away from her parents and set up camp outside in the woods as of " To Cut a Woman's Hair. In " The Monster " she explains that, after an argument with her parents, she ran away to the woods and was found by a pack of wolves.
The wolves took her in and raised her as one of their own, but she was banished after causing too much drama. She came upon a village, but the villagers mistook her for a monster and ran away. Lumpy Space Princess began using this to her advantage and took up the guise of a monster to scare away the villagers and raid their crops.
After talking with Finn and Jake, she realizes her mistake and reconciles with her parents; however, in "Princess Monster Wife" she is once again living at her hobo camp. At the end of " Come Along With Me ," after she is crowned queen, her parents bow to her in respect.
This is illustrated in "Trouble in Lumpy Space" when she tells Finn that there's going to be a lot of romantic tension on their ride because she used to eat chili-cheese fprohyas with Brad. Lumpy Space Princess seems to be aware of how shallow her relationships with her Lumpy Space friends are, as seen later where she tells Finn that he is supposed to be her friend, unlike the "fake" ones she has there. Despite their tenuous relationship, Lumpy Space Princess and Melissa appears to be still good friends with each other as she was seen talking to Melissa on the phone in " Heat Signature " and " The Wand.
She was also seen to be friends with Turtle Princess in " Gotcha! She seems to have a good friendship with her, because they speak on the phone to each other multiple times in "Gotcha! She also gave her the idea to write a book, which Lumpy Space Princess did and Turtle Princess told her she loved it, and published it. When Marceline drank one of the Maple Guards ' syrup to knock him out, and explained that she could not digest syrup, Lumpy Space Princess kicked the guard several times for "poisoning my girl.
However, Mr. Pig and Tree Trunks seemed displeased by her trashing of their house and attempts to move in as a nanny, and were already discussing other babysitting options at the episode's end. Lemongrab quickly freaked out at the prospect of food being served on a blanket and ended the date, though Lumpy Space Princess pointed out that he needed to deal with his fear of intimacy.
Their long-term relationship status is unclear. Lumpy Space Princess had a genuine romantic connection with Johnnie , a former high school classmate she encountered at a tavern in " Bad Timing " who was in the Candy Kingdom on business.
The two immediately hit it off, but Lumpy Space Princess, who was already feeling slighted by Princess Bubblegum, became overwhelmingly insecure after Johnnie left her alone for a business dinner with Bubblegum. After seeing the two of them dining together platonically , Lumpy Space Princess then violently attacked the Candy Castle with a root beer Molotov Cocktail and a fuel truck, then stole Princess Bubblegum's time machine and attempted to send Johnnie back to "when you loved me.
Brad is Lumpy Space Princess' ex-boyfriend who is dating Melissa currently. As stated in " Trouble in Lumpy Space ," they used to eat chili fries together, concluding them to have a good relationship. It was also revealed that Lumpy Space Princess feels uncomfortable around him, as when Brad boarded Melissa's car, she stated that it would be hard for her as there will be lots of romantic tension on the ride.
The relationship between them was brought up again after three seasons; in " The Creeps ," where it was revealed that they broke up because he kissed her on the mouth, which upsets her and made Brad realized that she's "obviously not ready for me. In " Bad Timing ," when she heard about Princess Bubblegum's time machine, she was determined to travel back in time to where he still loves her, showing that she wants to rekindle their relationship. She is willing to help Finn, as seen in "Trouble in Lumpy Space" where she helps him get an antidote for Jake.
She also shows her friendship in "Gotcha! However, she is unsatisfied with Finn simply pecking her on the lips which she refers to as "a dip in the kiddie pool" , and she suggests that they "go to the deep end" instead. Lumpy Space Princess seems to have a weird type of relationship with Princess Bubblegum. At first, she seems to be on good terms with her and was often invited to the parties that she threw " Trouble in Lumpy Space ," " Ricardio the Heart Guy ," " Princess Potluck ".
However, an opposite version of their relationship was shown in " Bad Timing ," where Lumpy Space Princess attacked her for refusing to give her the gloves that will activate the Time Travel Machine.
She forced her to the ground and pulls out her hair while calling her a witch and skunk who does not "know heartache with the whole Candy Kingdom in love with [her] pretty bubblegum buns.
Later in the episode, Lumpy Space Princess furiously concludes that Bubblegum has a plan to steal Johnnie from her when he tells her that the dinner will only include Bubblegum and him. As she spies on them during the royal dinner, Lumpy Space Princess comes to believe that Johnnie has become attracted to Bubblegum and does not love her anymore.
Enraged, she violently attacks the Candy Kingdom using a Molotov cocktail and a truck of gasoline, causing a huge explosion through the kingdom. In the end, when Lumpy Space Princess can't find Johnnie in the tavern, Princess Bubblegum comes in and explains how the time travel machine would have had to log Johnnie's molecules before it would work and tells her that she does not know when Lumpy Space Princess questions where he is. Wanting to forget this heartache, Lumpy Space Princess requests the princess to send her back in time, which Bubblegum does.
She is sent back to where she attacks Princess Bubblegum and continues to insult her with the same words before. Lumpy Space Princess had an antagonistic relationship with a forest raccoon in "Be Sweet" who stole her chicken and snuck into Mr.
