Only if the diodes are exactly the same, which they never are. THe one with a lower forward voltage drop will take more current and with ideal diodes it would take all the current. Click to expand It might help equalize the current or at least counteract the temperature coefficient. You might find that three or four diodes in parallel would serve the purpose. They should be very tightly coupled thermally.

So I wouldn't expect the safe limit to be close to twice that of a single device. BB code is On. Smilies are On. Forum Rules. All times are GMT. The time now is PM. I've something that works in experimental setting. I was thinking of applying it to something that I want to keep more permanently and potentially more expensive , but I know that I am not knowledgeable enough to identify the draw backs.
If anyone can give me their thoughts on this, I appreciate it. Seeing how schottky diode is used as "power source selector", I applied it to some of the experimental stuff I do I had something that I wanted to avoid outage when I need to pull the battery out to recharge, so as with the Arduino's, I decided to use a diode as power-source-selector. That worked. That also worked.
That leads me to think: "What are the draw backs? Your thoughts?
